2011 Qualification System

the most part, same as last year
1. Pigeon Board 4 pigeons in 100
seconds, one point each.
2. Pigeon Bonus and paper pigeon 2
points for live and one for paper 120 seconds.
3. Pot Bonus and paper pot 2 points
for live and one for paper 100 seconds.
4. Tile Bonus 2 points for live
and one for paper 100 seconds.
5. 100 yard tiles 2 for 2 points
each 60 seconds.
6. 100 yard
Tile Bonus and paper tile 2 points for live and one for paper 100 seconds.
Target positions:
1. All cardboard backers, except
pre-drilled pigeon boards, will be or will be cut to be the dimensions of the
Individual Pistol Backer. That backer takes two of our paper targets perfectly
and leaves room for hanging targets on either side. It works we have done it!
We must get the hanging live targets off the bottom of the frame because we do
not get a proper read for skirmishing and it shows.
2. The Pigeon Board will be on one
frame.
3. The other 50 yard events will be
shot from one position on both A and B frames. The left four Blues shooting
the A frame and the right four, the B frame. It
may require two 50 yard positions on a crowded Qualification day but there are
57 firing positions on the range!
4. At 100 yards the tile event is on
one frame and the Bonus Tile paper event in another, as now. For the 100 yards
paper event we will take four/five of these pistol backers and merely staple
them side by side.
MISCELLANEOUS QUALIFICATION RULES:
1. A two point bonus will be given
for Qualifications shot at Fort Shenandoah.
2. Persons related by blood or
marriage may qualify each other, given that all targets are made available to
the Deputy Commander or designee as soon as possible before the next skirmish;
that the Qualification is posted by email the day before and the Deputy
Commander or designee appoints a qualification officer.
3. Any two members may qualify each
other, given that the targets are made available to the Deputy Commander, as
above; the Qualification is posted by email 48 hours before and the Deputy Commander or designee
appoints a qualification officer.
4. Qualifying scores shot on the
Sunday or a Monday, if a National holiday, preceding a skirmish may be counted
for that skirmish. Local holidays do not apply because all members are not
afforded an equal opportunity to participate.
5. A minimum of three qualifying
scores must be recorded in Musket and Carbine prior to the Spring Potomac
Skirmish for position at that skirmish. New for this year is that every round counts. For example if you have shot 5
rounds you the average is adding the 5 rounds together and divide by 5 The procedure is prior to starting each round
a shooter must declare whether or not this is a practice round or a qualification
round. Once a qualification round is started it must be completed. The only
exception is if you have a gun failure.
Remember you may shoot as may practice rounds as you like! (Prior year
scores or a combination of current and past scores will be used until then as
designated by the Executive Board).
