1) There have been 148 Rounds fired.
a) 100 Musket
b) 47 Carbine
c) 1 Ballard (Davies)
2) I have target by target records for 105 Rounds
a) 68 Musket
b) 37 Carbine
3) 14 Members have fired at least 1 Round
a) 13 Members have qualified with Musket
i) 3 Members have fired 3 Rounds
ii) 2 Members have fired 4 Rounds
iii) 1 Member has fired 5 Rounds
iv) 7 Members have fired 7 Rounds or more
b) 10 Members have qualified with Carbine
i) 3 Members have fired 3 rounds
ii) 7 Members have fired 4 or more Rounds
c) None with revolver or Henry
4) Some interesting facts about Musket and Carbine
a) We average just over 3 pigeons in 100 seconds
b) We hit the live pigeon 54% of the time
c) We average 4.3 hits on the paper pigeon
d) We hit the live pot 44% of the time
e) We average 2.58 hits on the paper pot
f) We hit the live 50 yd tile 64% of the time
g) We average 3.59 hits on the paper tile at 50 yds
h) We average 1.1 tiles in 60 seconds at 100 yds
i) We hit the live 100 yd tile 35% of the time
j) We average 2.07 hits on the paper tile at 100 yds
5) Pigeon Board
a) We break 2.86/100 seconds on the board with the Musket. That translates to 139 second board.
b) Taking all hits on 50 yd pigeon with the musket only (counting live pigeon as 1 hit) we shoot 141.6 second board.
c) Taking all pigeon hits as above with Carbine we would shoot 87.1 second board.
d) We shoot live pigeon board as well as the paper ones with Musket. With the Carbine we routinely hit all 4 pigeons on the live board before 100 seconds expires, therefore comparison is not possible. My observation is that we shoot live as well as paper with the Carbine as well.
6) Pot
a) We break the live pot 44% of the time.
b) Assuming a shooter gets off 6 shots at the paper pot, using our average of 2.58 hits per pot that is 43%.
c) We shoot paper and live equally as well.
7) 50 yd Tile
a) We hit the live tile 64% of the time. Roughly 2 out of three.
b) Assuming 6 shots at the paper and using our average of 3.59 hits per tile we hit the paper 60% of the time.
c) We shoot the live a little better than the paper.
8) 100 Yd 60 second Tile
a) We average 1.1 Tile per 60 seconds. That translates to 68.2 second event for an 8 man team
9) 100 Yd Tile
a) We break the live Tile 35% of the time.
b) Once again assuming 6 shots at the paper we hit 2.07 times. That is 35%. We shoot the paper as poorly as we shoot the live.
SUMMARY
Our qualification scores indicate that we shoot them about the same as we shoot a Skirmish. We shoot live targets as well as we shoot paper. Our weakest event is the 100 Yard Tile. As individuals we need to shoot at 100 yds. on paper to see where we are hitting and thus tighten up our groups and increase our hits in the target. There is room on the range and we always have extra cardboard and targets for this.
The 13 Musket shooters who are qualified were in the top 17 shooters from last year. 11 of those 13 were the top 11 from last year. The 10 Carbine shooters who are qualified were in the top 18 shooters from last year. 9 of those 10 were in the top 11 from last year. The weather has not deterred these folks from becoming qualified for the Spring and the majority have fired enough scores to be qualified for the year.
